Romeo Castellucci: Go Down, Moses

Fri 19.8. 19:00
Sat 20.8. 19:00

For the first time in Finland, the work of Romeo Castellucci, the controversial and uncompromising top name in European contemporary theatre, will finally be seen at the Helsinki Festival. Go Down, Moses premiered in 2014, and it is a series of dreamlike excerpts, which repeat biblical visions, the history of mankind and the deepest layers of the psyche.

Currently at the peak of his popularity, Castellucci’s (b. 1960) often radical stage art showcases the primitive and the meditative as cathartic counterforces. The Italian director’s award-winning theatre group Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio was founded in the 1980s, and its works are characterised by a strong emphasis on the visual, exceptional soundscapes and tangible physicality.

Castellucci makes theatre that needs to be experienced at least once in your life. The powerful Go Down, Moses is full of fierce scenes that leave their mark.

NB: The performance contains loud noises, we recommend the use of earplugs.
