How do the energy and euphoria of electronic music sound when interpreted by a symphonic orchestra? Helsinki Festival’s never-before-seen concert brings to the Helsinki Music Centre the world-premiere of Lowland’s and Pessi Levanto’s orchestral adaptations of dance music classics. The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Klaus Mäkelä.
Classical Trancelations in Concert uniquely combines technical production elements of traditional concerts and rave events, from lights to sound reproduction. The programme includes premieres of versions of Sandstorm by Darude, Insomnia by Faithless and Opus by Eric Prydz.
Sold-out encounters between classical and dance music have previously been seen at, for example, the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Sydney Opera House. For the first time in Finland, the concept also serves as the 20th anniversary of the legendary Unity club and part of the celebration of DJ Orkidea’s 25 years in music.
